    Quite a while.

    I was actually wrong about my coffee can being metal. It was actually cardboard lined with metal foil and metal ends. It was shiney inside so I made a (wrong) assumption.

    I opened thousands when I was mess cranking in the Navy in the early 80s — but they were probably surplus from the late 60s

    I can beat that. :) I found one under the wood floor horse buggy barn in my yard, that was Pat. pend. 1915. :eek: Just for starters. I have old apothecary(pharmacist) bottles up the ying yang, milk bottles from the 50's where one of my former co-worker used to work as a milk delivery man. :)
