The parts store socket was provided by the owner. I did the same. But my wobble extention some how went in to far and made a 1/4 turn locking them together. That was a bear to get my tools back. Plus I wear XXL gloves. But it's done.

I'm afraid his truck is headed for a cam issue.

Yup. I'm a xxl glove guy too.
Most issues start with the long oil change intervals... if sludge is plugging a screen, thats a problem.
    Squeak/tick or collapsed lifter/misfire?
Either way its a huge repair. Heads have to come off. Always replace that lifter manifold if it has cyl deactivation, and I always replaced the oil pump. The trash from the cam scores it, and gerotor pumps don't like that.

Pinhole in the radiator on this Ram. So far it's an over rated experience. That ranch hand bumper isn't helping me at all. PXL_20250303_191632761.jpg

Supposedly it only had 5k on oil. Being a good friend I gently called BS. WORST looking oil I've seen in awhile.

That was the exact plan I layed out for him. But removal of DOD. He is gonna drive it some.... I really don't wanna see it back. I have no idea if lower bearings are hurt. I don't wanna have 2500 in the top end to just go spin a rod bearing. I would guess it had 10k or more miles on the oil.
