Well, had to revoke a buddies man card today. He was thrown in jail for domestic abuse. Him and the wife got drunk and started arguing and started smacking each other around. So they both spent the weekend in the tank. Told him that I thought better of him for NOT raising a hand to her, but the liquid courage got the better of him. 72 yrs old and hasn't learned to control himself....man card revoked till further notice !!

I don’t know him so I can’t pass judgment, but I think if I couldn’t do any better than that I’d just quit drinkin altogether. I’ve known lots of folks that are real good people till they get some alcohol in em.cke, bigguns, BoostedTeg and 17 others Thank this.

Never understood the violence thing just because of drinking. I drank for years and was a pretty hard weekend alcoholic for about 10 yrs. Didn't drink during the week but come Fri-Sun lookout!
I lived in a small town close to the beaches and the local VFW was our hangout. We had gambling machines, pool table, big screen, jukebox, kitchen and of course all the beer and liquor you could drink. Everybody that hung out there was there for a good time and the particular group of guys I hung out with were always out for nothing but a good time, always, and good times we had.
We'd wonder off every once in a while down to a beach bar or a party at someones house and not once do I remember any of us ever getting violent with anybody, never even heard about somebody smacking their significant other around at home. Maybe it's a rare thing not fighting while drinking, I don't know. What I do know is I had a GREAT time during that time of my life.
Like @ShooterK2 said, since I quit drinking like that back in '02 it's funny to see how some people change when they get alcohol in em. I personally don't like to be around it anymore and I sure don't want my son around it. We spend a lot of time around the lake so it's kind of hard to avoid. -
Could you grab me a Quarter with cheese please, I'll catch ya on the return, lol.cke, johndeere4020, snowman_w900 and 13 others Thank this.

You bout nailed it there: YOU all had a good, honest time bc y’all are good honest people.
Seem to me like drinking brings out folks true colors, & therein lies the trouble. Lotta peoples true colors are awful dark in the daylight. -
Was just informed I can’t drop the wagon at the customer...
Hmmmmm. Gonna have to use a little knowledge I gained with my Kenworth troubles...cke, johndeere4020, snowman_w900 and 10 others Thank this. -
To this day, I have never tasted a drop of alcohol or smoked a cigarette. I wonder if I would have an addictive personality and get out of control. That being said, I might have an addiction. Academy has them for $199 right now, Taurus G2C. This is my third, why can’t I say no????
cke, bigguns, peterbilt_2005 and 19 others Thank this. -
Yes sir IMO you seem to have a full blown addiction!
But since it's such a positive addiction to have, seems like it should be reinforced further.cke, jamespmack, SAR and 13 others Thank this. -
Your only the second person I've known in 56 yrs that has said or can say that. That's pretty amazing. I think it says more about your strengths than what could've possibly been your weakness.cke, bigguns, jamespmack and 16 others Thank this.
