I have a friend who's trying to get a few truckloads of trees moved from northern Idaho back here to Evanston. About 775 miles.

I know I'm more than he wants to pay, I hit him at $4500. Another guy in town said he'd do it for $3200. Some broker said they'd do $2800. Landstar said $3400.

Now the broker isn't calling back and he's nervous about going with landstar. I told him it isn't exactly specialized but you don't need just any swinging dick hauling them. Not everyone is carrying 30 straps. And a nursery tarp.

You get what you pay for.

I know a guy that is hauling Amazon trailers on a somewhat regular basis. They called him one day and said they had a truck break down in Wamsutter and need a truck to get it right away. Offered $800. He countered with $1100 and thought he'd cut a fat hog in the arse.

He said can you believe they accepted my rate immediately. I told I'd like to think so, you still did it for half price or less.

He said you'd have asked for $2200? I said no I would have hit them at a lot more than that. They were desperate, they wanted a truck right effin now and nobody else was available. And it was in the middle of a snow storm.

I can't believe how many guys think it only matters that you ask for slightly more than they're offering without considering any other factors that affect the rate. Anyways I guess I'm just preaching to the choir here...

Reminds me of one of the jobsites we used to work in big sky montana at the big sky resort.. multi million dollar landscape project and the superintendent would complain to me almost everyday I showed up, about how much the trucks cost to deliver the material... I delivered something like 40 loads to him on my own there was 3 other guys on the same job. After a certain point a guy would think it really dont matter... meanwhile that resort cost 50k a week to rent out. Cry me a river buddy .. lol

Any time I give a price and there is no hesitation, I immediately know I just did it too cheap.

No pastor Paul update today? @TX2Day . Maybe Ole @blairandgretchen sniffed that one out like a hungry bloodhound
That's really sad a person would do something like that If it's true.
