A previous job I had involved occasionally loading and unloading equipment shipped on flatdecks. If I were in charge I'd have found a dedicated carrier or 2 that were reliable and professional instead of posting stuff on load boards. The amount of guys showing up with a deck that had zero clue how to even secure the load was mind boggling. You're running a deck, you should at least have a basic understanding of how to secure a load. Some of the ways these guys tied down loads was downright scary.

The difference is that you actually have pride in your work and the products you were loading.

Most "Logistics Managers" have never even seen a truck in person before because they didn't have those at whatever college they overpaid for their MBA. Their focus always has been and always will be profit go up. If they can save enough money with cheap trucks to offset the cost of damaged product then their boss will assume they must be doing something right.

Until you can convince a bunch of desk jockeys to see it your way this #### will continue and it will get worse.

It's not going to stop until the general public is directly affected enough that the people in charge actually have more to lose from lost votes than they gain from campaign contributions.

Didn’t know Bobcat made anything like that, there’s a dealer in front of the Cummins dealer in Crosslanes….

They are made by kioti. Basically the exact same tractor only painted white. Bobcat has a better service foot print near me than kioti does. They both are offering 0% but kioti is 0 for 60 and bobcat is 0 for 84. About 200 bucks difference in price. The wife preferred the one painted white and I prefer the dealer. They have a smaller version than what I got. More in the sub compact category

Showed up to load or unload and had guys tell me, well, it’s nice to have a driver that doesn’t have to try 7 times and still get it wrong for a change. When I ask they shake their heads and say you just have no idea what we see come in here….

You will never load in that place in an hour. It loads one day unloads next day. And there's another place that has smaller reels and they are anything but a back haul rate. I never did back haul rates, and I never even used the term. Lot's of assumption on your part, but the reality is someone is going to tie up a day and a half for $600 (your figures). So if I can't load the smaller reels out of Brownwood, I bounce, and I'm 70 miles away.
