See, I'm in this camp. If it doesn't pay, I don't take it. And even if it does for those along the way loads, I still have a base day/hour rate, regardless of how convenient it works in on paper.
I'd really like to see if running the other way is actually more or less profitable. Someone that consistently adds revenue to their bottom line may actually BE more profitable overall, but there's still the time element to figure in, which is a little trickier to compare in this job.
