Oil quality has made huge leaps in the last 40 years. Probably a contributing factor as long as service intervals aren't stretched to absolutely stupid amounts. Had some literature from years ago that showed the advancements in oil from the 70's until the mid-2000's and it was quite significant.

The whole theory behind EGR was to lower the oxygen content in the cylinder, which would keep combustion temperatures lower. Lower combustion temperatures means less NOx emissions. Downside is more particulates are produced. I do wonder the effect on engine longevity if they were able to remove the particulates from the EGR charge into the intake. I can't imagine putting soot into the intake is healthy.

If anybody is heading through Kansas tomorrow night, keep an eye on the weather. Their graphic says to expect a tornado or two. The real discussion behind the scenes is there will be tornadoes tomorrow.
I really hope they're wrong and this system is just over-hyped.

My 1967 Kenworth does not have that problem. It goes out those big pipe thingy's on the sides of the cab. With enthusiasm and purpose

My first was about 31 for both. That stool softener and Tang. Not the PU.

Well my opinion is "Can you stick a hose in your rear and in your mouth and go for a run breathing yourself in". They want clean air and do not care how much fuel or natural resources take to accomplish this. You can't explain it to them.
