Yeah it is a problem, company policy is clean tracks every day without exception and the owner himself told not to clean tracks just leave the machine. I don’t mind picking them out occasionally but multiple machines a day especially with wet heavy clay is BS. Last spring I showed up to get a 450 that wasn’t cleaned, I texted pictures to the operations manager and he said leave it. He made the crew go after work and clean them, the forman cornered me about it a week or so later and said he got his butt ripped and it only took them 15 minutes to clean them so it shouldn’t have been a big deal. I said yeah 15 minutes for 4 of you that’s an hour for me by myself.

As far as that one in the picture they could have been cleaner but you get tired of trying the make them spotless just to go 20 miles then turn around and do it again, that was probably one of 10 moves that day. I try to get the big chunks and stones off, anything that could damage a car or hurt someone then go with it.

We don’t have that problem in our union, opereators are required to clean tracks and we’re not required an oiler until a machine weighs 110,000 or something and if the job is over 21 million.

Yep, and a Maverick on the other side.

Both look like squared away hands though.

I'm with you on not making them spotless. The wet clay could probably ride across the country without ever falling off.

It can certainly take a fair bit of time to shovel them out decently when in wet clay or mud. We try to grease, fuel, and shovel tracks in half an hour at the end of the day, and on the 345 when working in mud the haul truck drivers need to help the hoe operator in order to get done in time.

I can see it now: someone googles something about pancakes and TTR is at the top of the results.

I don’t have many cool photos to share of a truck drivers life recently, especially if they don’t involve food.

    But wait!!!
