Them ol big block wagons were the real deal.

It’s unfortunate that one of em got me the absolute worse ### whippin my mother ever handed out. My older brother took me and my huffy up to the hay loft of the barn. Sit me on the conveyor and said you better be pumpin er side to side you hit that board…..(which was run from the ground up to the back of car) and I was and I did. Mama was standing at the kitchen sink washing the dishes from lunch. When I hit that board I heard her holler “Russell Willis” I knew at that moment I ####ed up. Landed square ### in the middle of the hood. She was out there peelin me off the ground before I hit it it seemed. Never asked are you ok? Is you hurt baby? None of that nurturing ####. She had me by the neck smokin my tail with one then every swat got a word ### whippings. The instant Daddy called that night she lit his ### up too. Told him get his ### home as his youngest child was gonna be the death of her. Now idk what she was so mad about cuz from what i remember that car looked a lot like that one but said 400 on the fender and grill. Dad bought her a Buick Park Avenue Limited the very next week. 455 in Royal blue. Let her pick it the whole deal. In my own mind I did her a favor I mean she got a new car…..I don’t know that it was brand new but it was almost new for sure and what she wanted. To this day every station wagon I see traumatizes me.



She made me go meet Dad when he got home. Now I’d seen him back in our driveway off the road in 1 hitch in the dark idk how many times. This was in the early days before the circle driveway and the shop etc. That afternoon he couldn’t hit it to save his life and I thought gosh #### he’s so mad I’m really gonna get it. He parked and just said By God boy you made her mad didn’t you?

 

The amount of crashes involving trucks is staggering….

 

I'm sure more nanny systems and regulations will fix it lol.

Saw it sitting in their front lot the other day. Wonder if it was a custom order for a farmer or just a one-off they did for fun?

Drug the box wagon all winter wait'n on April to come along. Clamoring to be back under my own wagon..

Well all the sudden they asked me to do the seed returns..

Each time I look at the load board, I'm far from impressed. Then I think about the chasing money, scammers, filling on bonds, arguing over #### rates, getting these BS excuses like you're now hearing..

Then that frickin "Highway" setup system, no inspections, no eld.. It's just ridiculous that I can't even book half the freight out there because of their rules..

Guess I'm just like a stray dog.? They keep feed'n me, why would I leave? Work is fairly consistent & check is always on time..
