This load is turning into a real test of patience. I hope I can win it.

Get up this morning, check out, go over to the truck stop and wait to hear from dispatch. Okay load appointment is 5pm and I'm going to Atkins, IA to dump the load to be disposed of by another company.

Get to Atkins, company just heard I was coming pretty much as I got there. Really nice guy in the office trying to work things out. Calls the local landfill, they can't take it till they review the paperwork, which they can't do till tomorrow. Calls the Waterloo landfill and gets voicemail on account of it being lunch time.

I just want to get the right product on the trailer and head towards home! At the very least I'm getting paid for the layover and the time taken today to deal with this ####.

I can imagine this is costing the shipper a fortune to deal with. Over 600 (possibly 700 at this point now) unnecessary miles and the fees associated with dumping the load in a landfill and possibly having another company move it for them. Plus the layover fees for the truck and I may even think hotel costs as well. Yikes.

Speaking of to reliant on Tech. One of the LiCCons went out on a crane and the operator was lost!! The boss handed him a 300' tape measure and a load chart and that kid looked like they asked him to do brain surgery!!! People definitely rely way to much on tech!!
