At the time I was working for a utility which was "critical infrastructure" so I got to sit in an idling truck all night.

So funny story not long ago were laying in bed about 9:30 and her phone rings she sets straight up answers it. In my gut I got that awful feeling worried about one of her parents. So she hands the phone to me and says “……. Wants to talk to you”. ……. Being a circuit court judge so I think what the #### can he want. So I gets on the phone and he says Russell how are you? That’s odd cause nobody calls me that. Any way he goes into I am aware we don’t know each other well etc but I have a huge favor to ask of you. An officer of the court and myself were at the Postmaster discussing a case and we left there, a new city police officer has stopped us and gave officer of the court a DUI and myself a public intoxication. We would both be forever in your debt if you’d come get us. Without hesitation I tell him it’s ok let me get my boots on I’ll be right on down. I get there and he explains the reason he called me is cause when a man’s in trouble he don’t get his wife out at 9pm to the jail house. Very respectable guy.
I would also like to say neither are using their position to get out of this. It’s gonna be hard for the one with a Dewey to find a judge that doesn’t know him and can here the case impartially.
I will also say I made a couple of very good friends for life right there. I can’t imagine the guys they hang out with cause they both agreed let me get my boots on and I’ll be right there was the very last thing they expected to hear. They appreciated me laughing at their situation instead of giving them a speech on how bad it was. I’m glad to be blue collar and know what to do in such instances -
My favorite was having to go down to Elko to bail Leo out for trying to burn the Ruby Marshes down cause he was bored and started a competition shooting whistle pigs out of a 3” pipe filled with acetylene— he couldn’t make eye contact with me and I was one pissed off hombre — got out and we were walking to the pickup and he side glanced me and said “Boss - I made eye contact with the the little MF’er when he flew past on fire” F’n lost it— can’t be mad for to long cause if I’d been there we’d probably burnt down most of Elko county and maybe a little of White PineSons Hero, singlescrewshaker, cke and 14 others Thank this.

T800 has new drive tires and brakes. Young guy at the quarry LOVES doing tires, has a kid coming next month, and needs side $. Come on over young man.
Funny story on the tires. Walmart sometimes has just crazy good prices on truck tires, for those that don't know already. They ship them.....FedEx home delivery. I've done it before, so I find a deal, order (8) 11r24.5- 1080lbs of tires. Whatever, that's between Walmart and FedEx. Shows they're out for delivery a couple of Saturdays ago. Working in the shop FedEx rolls in hey you got my tires. He says I got 4 this isn't my normal route, your route driver was griping up a storm 8 tires so I took 4. Couple hours later another FedEx, he's got 2, same story. He says the normal guy will be here with the other 2 today FOR SURE! Well, never shows. Call Walmart customer service 2 business days later she says..."hold please, let me contact FedEx...........are you still there? FedEx lost them in shipping. Would you like a refund or reorder the items?"
Lost (2) 150lb tires??? Riiiiiiiight. Hahaha! Send me 2 more....Last edited: Aug 23, 2025

So— I don’t disagree in principle, but his other half would have us both crotch tied and cut with a dull deer antler and mine would to — best to keep a stash and handle things on the down lowSons Hero, singlescrewshaker, cke and 15 others Thank this.

My mom never told anyone that about me. Ever.
In fact, she probably would have asked if there was such a thing as reverse-bail. Or flipped @tramm01 a $100 to not answer the phone.singlescrewshaker, cke, Friend and 10 others Thank this. -
Been busy the last two days, trying to get this rusty rear end to give up the bolts and fill plug without doing any other damage. Of course, I had to buy the right tools for the right job, after I realized what I was getting into. Got those tools earlier today and finished removing the offending bolts and plug before it started raining, so tomorrow will be the clean up and reinstall of the cover and refilling the differential. I had to replace the cover because I found out it was 'sweating' rear end dope, it was so rusty. To make it worse, once I had it up, I played with the idea of taking it somewhere for some real professional help...when I was cleaning the scaled metal around the bolts and went through the thin steel....and the rear end started draining without the cover off....so changing the cover was no longer an option, before it could go anywhere else.

I remember now one of the reasons I stopped wrenching. Rust poisoning.
1998 Blazer LS 4 door that I've been using to transport small engine equipment from my brother in laws to me, and I plan on using it IF I end up going somewhere to drive again, so I figured to get it up to snuff. Had the wheel bearing replaced by a local place that was too good of a price to refuse, but this was my boondoggle to fix, and it looks like I'm looking at a whole lot more work/money to bring it up to snuff, just in replacing the rearend, than originally thought. I may have to go back to work just to pay for it all.
