You do a lot of empty miles?
This started before the new shocks?
Wheel bearings, something worn, like bushings. Maybe king pin a tad loose.
Something you could try, rotate tires, spin balance and bump pressure to 100.singlescrewshaker, cke, 1951 ford and 7 others Thank this. -
Half my miles are empty. I'm gonna say it's the old shocks. They were leaking. I've put maybe 2000 miles on these new ones. Checked the bearings n kingpin when I polished the wheels.singlescrewshaker, cke, 1951 ford and 6 others Thank this.

Sometimes, you just know when things are going somewhat smoothly, something will happen to change the tune? Yeah, I HAD tested that bolt, right? Seems it was 'screwing' into the cover that was still on, and just catching enough of the starter threads to make me think it fit. Realized I didn't have Metric taps to tap the holes of the Differential housing to clean them up, so went and picked up a new set of both Metric and SAE with more abundant options, and started scratching my head why the Metric tap M8 - 1.25 won't tap without jamming up. So I grabbed one of the 'good' bolts and discovered, that the bolt doesn't thread like I thought, either. It starts going in, but then jams, same as the tap.
Hmmm... the specs are the metric, but the old bolts I pulled started looking more like 5/16-18 SAE. Argh...but even though that tap was more friendly, it wouldn't go as deep, but regardless, I no longer have bolts that will work anyway...and here I thought I was buttoning up this boondoggle today....arrrgggghhhhh
Taking the old bolt to the dealer and tell him he better have what I need, if it was a mid model change over or some yahoo using the old spec bolts in a new spec and tapping it out and changing it, before I got to it.
I think I remember another reason wrenching went by the wayside for me, though I have been enjoying the small engine repair stuff...cleaner and less physically painful.
singlescrewshaker, cke, broke down plumber and 7 others Thank this. -
I did a bit of it on a 55H when I was in high school. No cab. I don't think we even had an umbrella!
Barley was the worst - itchy as can be.Tug Toy, singlescrewshaker, cke and 8 others Thank this. -
Worn shocks definitely started the wear pattern. High empty miles at highway speed, plus road crown are contributing to the wear pattern.
Think the only way to extend the life of the tires will be regular rotation and balancing.Tug Toy, singlescrewshaker, cke and 5 others Thank this. -
The plan is to finish harvest then switch em to end dump..Sons Hero, Tug Toy, singlescrewshaker and 8 others Thank this.
