    Uhuh:
Him: Experienced middle aged trooper stops up as you are in process.

Sir, If the trailers gonna be there long, need to get it off the yellow line. You and I both know that little corner there is not dangerous, but you know how some of these people are now. Just reporting anything..

You: No problem, just gotta walk this thing around to the next bend there. Will come right back and hook up.

Him: Well OK, but would you just swing around and nudge that corner back off the line. Be out of the way enough then till you get back. Make it more legal like.

You: Sure, i'll do that and appreciate the reminder.

I dunno about the 25; but in IH, the T would mean a twine tie baler.

(Ya know, those sisal loops that teach you to pick up your feet as you walk across the barn lot.)

Where do you find good sized blocks and hard enough to stand ? Used to get up to 8 x 10 clear white oak from a mill that cut for a pallet plant.
We kept a few on hand in the back of the shop. Them, and / or some 4 x 6 matched for holding a forklift up to work under.
Like a factory bridge, man. Safer than a cable / hyd lift in my opinion.

The IH was a 45T (Twine) , PTO driven. Some other number T and it had its own continental engine aboard.Love affair with it.
I got my first set of tools due to a 45T. Neighbor across road had one and a farm hand named Wille. Willie was pulling it along with an IH "H" PTO, spitting out bales and about every 3rd would eject, bow up and bust. Over say a 3 day period, Willie worked, rebaled, local dealer sent a mechanic out, then later the shop foreman. Were to get "the man from Memphis" down to see about this next week. When a 16 year old farm boy (ish) sees such activity of important and knowledgeable people across the road, he goes chicken / Crosses the road to see the attraction..
One visit allows to see it won't work, then to see what these stubby steel twisted fingers are doing, but the knots pull out. They had a theory on the batch of twine, so different spool tied on, same thing. Impasse.. Next day, some way I wound up over there with Willie only and we were diagnosing.

Willie said it is like the knots don't tie. Come down the back and when clear, come untied. We are examining the knotter mechanism and talking. The little fingers were matching and shiny, so no unevenness there. I noticed they had a tension spring compressing them, and the one on the left side was screwed down more than the right. Castellated nut and cotter...
So young ish says to Willie. Why do these not match, should be equal (All other points being matched). He had no idea, but it was the right side that was coming loose.

So, in my flash of brilliance, I tell Willie... Lets screw down this side to equal that one, and try it. Willie is uncertain, What if it don't work, What if if did something else worse, What would we tell Mr. Jack (Owner neighbor) Willie; we will count the threads, and if it don't work, we will put it back and lie about anything else. (By now you should have deduced that Willie is black and I am proposing danger) It is agreed I will do any lying. So, remove cotter, tighten down two or three turns to match the left, cotter in, go bale Willie...
He did and as soon as the outlet cleared it started tying fine. Willie baled till dark.

Mr Jack tells him the next morning that the man from Memphis will be down to fix the baler. Willie tells him, it is fixed. He asks if Mr Slim,(shop foreman at dealer did it). Willie says no, Mr. Roger cross the road fixed it.
Mr Jack had the Trades Training Institute in West Point. A school to teach veterans auto mechanics. Students got a set of tools. Mr Jack got in his pickup and drove across the road. Stopped and walked down to the barn to me.
    Said Roger,
I want you to go down to the school, tell Fain Carpenter (the instructor) I said give you a set of tools. Also have him give you pliers, screwdrivers, hammers, punches and chisels, you want. All I want is for you to help Wille with our equipment.

So; at 16, I had a full 1/2" SK- socket set,to 1-1/4, Bonney end wrenches, same Bonney box wrenches a crescent or two and a lot of other. in a S-K box. And, farm mechanic for 160 acres ours and 240 Mr. Jacks.
I used that box till 9/79 and got a black Kennedy for the forklift business. It rode a wreck in with me in Henderson,TN, no damage. We rolled over left; it hung on the park brake lever, and I crawled up and over it thru the pass side window. Never lost a wrench.

IMG_8975.png Snuck up on an enemy encampment of yellow jackets. A half can of red brake clean burnt their ###. I’m happy to report I took no hits from the enemy this time
