Concerning the moose discussion, I've heard from numerous drivers and schools and company people alike. Loud jakes and train horns are great for all wildlife, scares them straight into the bush.

A moose in rut will take it as a challenge and don't care if they win or lose.

The reason why my company doesn't put moose bars on the trucks, outside of the extra weight, is because hit a big enough bull in Ontario (where they get huge), and it'll twist the frame and write the truck off. Hit it without one and you can replace the hood, bumper and rad for much less money.

Moose bars are great for splattering deer and other small game though.

Interesting the names folks have for those things according to where they live. We don’t have moose around here (well.... I’ve seen some pretty big gals, but...) so we usually call em grill guards or cow catchers. One of our lease drivers is from Australia and he calls em ‘roo bars, pronounced “rew bahhs”.

    That’s cool.
I’d love to be around him some. They ask him some real good questions during the interview. Oh the stories he can tell. Talks about being in a tornado with Richard Petty’s 43 car in the wagon. Stuff like that just never gets old to me.

Keep yer book right today if the bears are that hungry. Don’t want you on here later tellin how big a trouble you’re in.
