As I was laying here reading I was just shook from my bunk....guy next to me was having a hard time backing in and the left rear corner of his trailer hit the right front corner of my Herd bumper.

He's an older fella. One of those guys who you can tell has been doing this for a while. I got the impression it's probably been years since he had any kind of incident. He was fully prepared to document and give me company information, etc. But considering it only put a couple nicks in the aluminum and I can probably sand them and polish them out, I told him let's not worry about it. Everybody needs a break now and then.

 

Now I am curious...I wonder what the world record is. This boy had 31 digits! Bet he never wore sandals.

 

Thank God you had that bumper or it would of been much worse. I guess you could say that herd bumper just paid for itself.

 

I bet sandals aren't the only thing he can't put on those "feet". Ever see a shoe shaped like a slice of Flying J pizza? Me neither.

Have my regular coast run tomorrow. As I was gathering the goodies to glue to the trailer, I was thinking about how I was glad I didn't have to deal with one of our "special" customers.

Then, co-worker comes out and says "Have another order to add to the trailer"

It was Captain Special.

Oh well. I'll be stopping by an awesome little eatery for a dungeness crab and shrimp melt. Not gonna get this driver down, no sir!

 

Made it to... I think they call this place Hopi? Hoti? Travel plaza...

I can make it to Elk City from here pending how nasty Albuquerque and Amarillo are...

I gots the load from hell. Hasn’t been too bad thus far but plastic wrap isn’t securement, two pallets are broken, and some metal pieces are sliding towards the drivers side... still within the trailer but now there’s a gap between those and the middle pieces...

I’ll get some 2” straps out in the morning





On the bright side... I should be flying to Seattle sometime early October. Hopefully big blue here doesn’t feel like playing games with getting me outta the truck.
