Took a young man and his 7 year old out yesterday for their first squirrel hunt. It was the boys first boat ride, and I'm pretty sure both of ems first squirrels.

They finally got a mess and were ready to head in. I got back out with a couple old 22's I'd been wanting to take out.

It's been years since I've squirrel hunted, and I pretty much only shoot for the head to not waste meat.

I swear all these squirrels were on drugs, cause they weren't sittin still at all. I done forgot that head shot rule was not an easy task.

Probably had 25 different squirrels in the sights, but only 2 slowed down long enough for a shot.

Got one with my Papaws late 30's Remington 121 at 76 yards, and one with my late 20's Savage Model 19 NRA at 93 yards.

Some idiot in the past removed the original peep from the Savage and drilled and tapped it for a scope base, but #### it is a shooter.

They're fixin to go in the crock pot for squirrel and dumplins this evening.

When I was a kid every fall/winter I lived in the woods squirrel hunting. I have problems sitting still for a good deer hunt. So just walking through the woods looking for squirrels was perfect for me.

They don’t carry Modelo Negra, but they do have a bucket deal. 35 degrees outside. Good riding weather.

Do you have a wood fired boiler? I was envious of your firewood processor, I thought I had it made when I got to use the chainsaw and not the buck saw!

Main thing, is that a smokehouse and what is it covering. Why I can remember we were so pore some time by spring, we were down to say 2 hams, 3 shoulders and 2 smoked middling's. Course we had this salt box about 3 layers still deep in fat back. Mama was bad to go out with the oldest butcher knife ever and whack about 3 inches off the bottom of a shoulder to put with some peas. Fed 9, 3 times a day. Made killing them 3 or 4 hogs worthwhile.

Crown Royal 7400 outdoor wood boiler. Heats our shop. The wood processor is hired. About 7 hours to process about 10 full cords.

We finally broke down and bought a log splitter Friday. When I got it home my bride wanted to see it in action, and I obliged her. It beat the crap out of a wedge and sledge hammer, but it still made me sweat and it was a cool day. She said we should have bought one 20 years ago, and I was in full agreement. I don't know if I've gotten lazier the older I get or if I'm looking for an easier way to do things.
