That's f'n hilarious though, sure it's frowned upon, but ya gotta hand it to em, putting it on any social media is about as dumb as it gets though. I am so glad that crap wasn't around when I was growing up, I think I'd just be getting out of jail now

If you guys have any thoughts here let me know. I've got some bull gear damage again, and I can't see why.
Some background for context.
I replaced my front structure, front cover, bull gear, water pump, and air compressor a little over 500k ago.
Last March IIRC, I started getting some noise, and found teeth in the oil pan. Pulled the front cover and bull gear, crank gear, and idler gear were trashed. Replaced them all. GTG.
I delivered near the house here Tuesday night, and when I started the truck back up, white smoke smelling like antifreeze. I've been bandaiding this sunk liner since my overhaul. So, eff it, I'm done.
Pulled it in yesterday and started tearing it down, and found this piece when I drained the oil.
Anyway, got it pulled apart, and pulled the accy drive to check for any gear issues. Sure enough, I've got a chunk missing out of the bull gear.
I've never seen one damaged quite like that. Just curious if you guys have any thoughts here of possible causes?
Maybe bad luck? Bad part? Maybe bad driver? Any chance something I'm doing while driving would cause it? I can't imagine so, but I'm no pro. If that was a tranny gear, I'd call that type of damage shock load.
Bull gear bearing has never failed BTW. The first time I replaced it was only because I was replacing the front cover and structure. -
I'm the last one to give advice, but is it possible a remnant from the previous failure got in there? Doesn't seem possible because any pieces remaining would have been found when replacing it last time, or in the oil pan. Just spit ballin here.

I’d lean more toward dropped in shipping. If something had been left in there it would have gotten more than one tooth as the dropped piece would have forced itself into the teeth and it would have made more than one round. With a hunting tooth design that lets the damage walk around the gear. With impact damage the contact of other gear teeth work it loose but keep it in place till the bad spot walk out of the teeth then centrifical (sorry auto correct ain’t my pal today) force slings to loose portion off the gear and out of the way. The crack down the gear also says impact damage of some sort. With the whole tooth gone it was an erosion process of tiny pieces not one big piece so you got really lucky there.
