That reminds me of a story about my late friend, Fred.
Late 1970's & Fred was doing the wee hours boogie down a two lane section of U.S. 101 in an old junky Frieghtliner COE. Middle of the night, middle of winter, pouring down rain, Fred had been awake way too long, all he wanted to do was get home.
There was a full grown Black Angus bull that had gotten through the fence and was standing in the middle of the lane with different plans for Fred. Fred T-boned the bull and always claimed that he never saw it. It totalled the front end of the truck, pushed the radiator back into the fan, Fred wasn't going anywhere. The bull did manage to get up and drag itself off into the brush where it laid down and died. By the time Fred managed to climb down out of the truck it was nowhere to be seen.
There was another chip hauler by in a minute or two, who stopped to see what happened. He said Fred was standing out in the pouring rain, without even a jacket on, scratching his head & looking bewildered. The first words out of Fred's mouth were; "Well I know I hit somethnig"
RIP Fred

“It’s wet because you’ve been driving through rain”
“No, there’s been grease there...”
“It’s not grease.”

Unloaded in Winfield. Reloaded in Harper. Time for a shower and lunch at Colby.
Only about 72 degrees in Kansas today. If this sunshine keeps up I might even have the truck washed. -
Just now got my truck finished. Headed for KS early in the morning, or maybe this evening if I get a hair and feel like running.
