It sure doesn’t sound like gear noise to me. But don’t take that to the bank.

run it with the valve cover off see if it’s worse

Is it just me or does it sound like an air compressor with the discharge line off?

Does it stop when the air is built all the way up?

Friend, The_vett, Gatordude and 10 others Thank this.

Never stops when it purges air. And moves up and down with rpms. Makes me think its top end related.

Lots of times when running the over head you’ll have a booger somewhere you don’t see then fire it up and it spits it out.

Couple weeks ago I fired up my bucket of bolts the morning after coming in from SC. Soon as it started it sounded like an extremely loose push rod. Turned it off and fired it back up with same issue and the sound of a miss in the exhaust.

Pulled the valve covers and fired it back up, soon as it started it was smooth as silk and purring as usual.

Hopefully it’s something small with your engine….
