That, I do not know. So far I haven’t much reason to go shopping for subsonic rounds, but now you have me curious.

Subsonic 5.56 is available from a variety of manufacturers. Hornady, Atomic, EBR etc.

I've never shot this calber in subsonic but it is there if you want/need it.

My home defense choice is a shotgun which is used for predator protection as well when they get too close.

I also keep the shotgun handy for home use. It wouldn't be hard to penetrate the exterior walls of a house, even with a tipped HP, in an AR.

2-3/4" #4 Buckshot. I use the same load calling coyotes in the woods. It's effective for sure, and those pellets don't exit coyotes, even close. IMO, they're perfect for in the house.

I think from there, maybe a 9mm carbine of whatever your preference. Even with good +P or +P+ HP's, I've not seen them exit either.

I find the hone defense rounds hard to find up here, so #4 buckshot in a 2 3/4" 12 gauge is kept handy..my .410 is used for grouse, dont recall but maybe #7 shot? Id have to look as i only pull that out in the fall during moose camp.

Not a wuss, just tired of waiting to do my seasonal change-over in the garage. Yesterday, it was 70, today 67 and rain, lost a good day, now we're back to tomorrow to 40 low, 43 high possible rain/snow, and then rain the day after with warmer weather...and the grass is starting to grow, meaning it's going to need a haircut and I don't have the hair cutting equipment out yet. :) I'd take the snow if it would stay here and slow the growth, but since it isn't let it stay there, warm up here so I can change my garage over. :)

What do you have that’s mostly available?

The Russians have pioneered the zombie rounds in 12 gauge. It was all they had for half a century or more. Stainless steel slugs for shooting through walls and trees and heavy vegetation.

Ive never shot them, but another option for the home front is the Aguila mini shells in 12 gauge. Now, the part you have to research is the gun that can cycle mini shells. I have the Shockwave and Tac14, both pumps, difference being the shockwave carries 1 extra 3 inch round and will cycle mini shells. Mossberg for the win.
