Hmmm...either the low battery meter, or the Grote Universal Turn Signal Switch. If it's the switch, that's normal, according to this Grote web page the link takes you to. They sell it with the worm gear clamp. Otherwise, I'm not seeing anything off hand.

I made my own years ago. Working for Swift, they gave you the road by road play for you to follow, so mine incorporated that kind of directions(in case I had to pre-layout my route the same way) along with the other trip information. The application I wrote allows me to include all that information for trips I've taken. Now I just have to set down some time to go back over my Swift trips and my other carriers.

cke, Big Road Skateboard, Feedman and 2 others Thank this. -
I have no clue what you are talking about
-
Ok then, glad I ain't the only one that missed it.. lol
Test drove it bobtail, so didn't do a tug test..
No jonny bar in this low spec pile..
Just one more thing to add to the list..CAXPT, beastr123, exhausted379 and 10 others Thank this. -
There are alot of Megas that order there trucks with no Jonny bars because they do not trust there drivers enough to not use them as parking brakes.

Not a job I'm looking at doing but contractor is putting a string of O/O trucks together so I was curious. I rough sketched route/miles/time (pays by the hour)- looks like around $3.85/mi, 50% empty. Not counting sitting in line, but that's by the hour. Low? I just am curious why so many sleeper trucks show up on these jobs.

I don’t know how you’re expected to perform a proper pre-trip on doubles without one.CAXPT, Speedy356, exhausted379 and 2 others Thank this.

I recall driving trucks with the range shifter attached to the stick with a hose clamp. Never heard a word about it and they always stayed put.CAXPT, Feedman, cke and 1 other person Thank this.

1st one we had (8 spd) the range shifter was like a large choke cable of PTO cable...You ran thru 4, pulled it up shifted to 5th.. Down shift, push it down in 5th, shifted to come back to 4th. Fool proof....
-
You may have manual range control on that 8 speed, like a heavy choke cable with a little chrome crossbar.
If so, and with its possible age, ... Sitting and waiting ...Pull it up, drop in a few drops of "sewing machine oil".Let set a few minutes. Repeat several times...
Make it easier to use on the in cab side. Underneath part, dose with squirts of kerosene while flexing a little to open the windings,
kerosene will dry off but has enough oil in it to lube. Do that or get a stiff hard to shift cable or buy a new one. You get a free new one, ya still gotta thread the damh thing on....CAXPT, Feedman, cke and 1 other person Thank this.
