    Google would give you a better answer than I could. Thick plastic like paint/coating that can be stripped off better than normal paint. Has enough plastic/rubber in it to resist vibration backing off the nuts and letting it slip. And if it DOES slip, making it easy to see.
    Young guys like using it on rims to cover blemishes or color coordinate or clash with the body colors. I'd let the bolt dry/cure almost completely then apply a layer on the threads and nut once they are torqued into place. There might be a drawback to it but it seems like it would be a good solution.

    I've heard of someone putting them on a 359.

    But the only real difference across the three generations is a bit of smoothing to the lines, a longer hood on the 389 and headlight changes. The overall look has remained a constant for what, 70 years (back from the 351 days)?
