Thought this was a pretty cool article @OLDSKOOLERnWV , beautiful country.
West Virginia’s Small-Town Revival
This kind of stuff can be nice and a curse at the same time. Brings money into an otherwise downtrodden community but can bring other stuff along with it, mostly traffic and the crowds to places that are use to the quietness of country living. City folk, rude people, everyone in a hurry. They leave the city to get away from the hustle and bustle and head to the country and the next thing you know they want all the conveniences of the places they are trying to get away from.
Went through the same thing when I lived in Delaware. Got there in '81 when it was a sleepy little beach community. There were always the summer weekend and holiday crowds but they went home during the week. Now all those folks have moved down there and you can't get around hardly anywhere in the Rte 1, 113 and 13 corridors without having to deal with the traffic 7 days a week. A lot of the farm land has been sold and additions, outlet malls and other businesses have been put up. My friends that still live there and grew up there say it's a nightmare anymore and it's sad to see it all going away. -
Not for the people I work with. May be for someone else.

Couple weeks back they put a big article in the New York Times about the town I live in. It’s already like 50-50 weekend city people and people that live here and have lived here. There’s only 1800 people here all in. It’s noticeable. We don’t need more of that kind of folk coming in, they bring nothing to the town in terms of community. They just own property. Noone new joins the fire department, no one joins the women’s auxiliary, no one joins the churches, no one involves themselves in social committees, none of their kids go to school locally (if they have kids/school age kids), None of them o none of them own, work at, or procure goods/services from local businesses.
We have next to no public services other than a primary school (number 1 in the state for its size) and they plow the roads. One blinker. 2 churches that are dying. One gas station. Post office. No bank. Our town is dying the weekend city folk death.
“Lowest property taxes in The county” was one of the selling points in the article.
