Basically, our okay $1500 - $2400 weeks here doing locals have been cut to $900 - $1200. Still way better wages than running 650 miles a day to earn that amount but given the headaches (today is my 3rd day at Knowlton and still haven't managed to get the 1st one on the trailer) so for 2 days now I've made.......zero.

And yes @stwik Kyle said it best, HR in Arlington doesn't have a clue about the work we do in Georgia, the "on-site" move is the last piece of the weekly puzzle following 3-4 on road moves.

Now, if our customer would spread these out over 4-5 days instead of 2 we would make what we used to before the "cap", not going to happen but we can have hopes lol.

The mouth breathers are already in place here. Ytd we have paid out close to 3 times the amount of claims and accidents as we did all last year.

    It's simple economics...

    1. Pay top dollar for the top talent in the industry. Save money on claims, repairs, handholders sitting at desks, DOT issues...ETC.

    or

    2. "You pay your DRIVERS too much money." What's the issue? Some deskjockey would rather the company spend more money because he doesn't think that the DRIVER, the most important cog in the transportation machine, should be making six figures. "You can teach a monkey to drive a truck." Show me this monkey trainer that can a.) do my job b.) train monkeys to drive and I will invest in monkeys too.

Suggestion: Stick to your guns. Stay where you're at. There will be screwups. Big screwups that only an A Gamer can fix. Make them pay you. They will curse under their breath every time they have to call you.

It happens all the time! The thought of drivers making bank just makes some of the office people fume.

What I'm seeing happen here, the company desires to have the "best paid" drivers in the flatbed sector and to some extent they are getting there. However instead of paying the top guys top dollar and letting the "mouth breathers" self destruct going broke while using the "aversge" pay across the board, they want everyone paid on the average. If our paycheck exceeds $5k then it has to go for "review" yet there is no review when it's significantly lower than our average. For some of us that means our check gets reviewed 22 out of 26 pay periods looking for something that needs "fixed"

The same thing happened to us. This was the deskjockey attempt to "level the playing field." We were paid percentage. A decade ago, if you stayed out and stayed busy, every load paid S-T-U-P-I-D money. But then, they tried to get drivers to do the ol' backhaul thing...you know, that extremely cheap heavy load that had to be tarped. And they would tell you, "Well, your last load paid well."

Fine. I'm going to the house.

They set things up to where almost everyone made the same amount of money. I got ticked off and spent more time at home. Would you believe that I made the same amount of money? So, you go from 80-90k miles a year to 30-40k miles a year and make the same money. I had lots of friends get ticked off and quit. They didn't like the idea. I did. Why should I be out for weeks on end, running all of those miles and whatnot when I can go home on a regular basis and make the exact same amount of money on 1/3 to 1/2 the miles? This is why I recommend drivers not do a LP deal...the weekly truck payment is the thing that enslaves drivers.

Yep.... main office guy "Charlie" was told he would get 10% of every dollar he saved the company. It got so bad we were driving a company pickup pulling a tandem trailer loaded with equipment for free! Got to the point only time I got paid to drive was when I pushed a truck with apportioned tags. And of course the young guys like "Donavon", what a douche!! Came off a barge from pushing a broom and blew smoke up the owners ###. 24 years old and couldn't put a cob handle on a file...., these guys even used the company credit card and racked up over $800 at a concert one night!! Keep in mind this #### didn't go on with the original owner, he was a business man! New owner who lives in KY likes beer and golf, and will do anything to stay home and drink and play. It's really sad how a successful company can go to hell over lack of leadership. Freind across town still works for EZ, laid off weeks at a time. He told me a while back that csx hates EZ anymore, and we use to be their go to people. Fun while it lasted I guess.
