I agree with what @catalinaflyer said. I miss some of the room of my 680 and especially miss the swing out table.

But I don’t really have to worry about ripping the bumper off when I’m jumping the median. Thanks to Ohio’s routing I had the nickname “curb jumper” for awhile.

Another feature that is absolutely mandatory now that I have had them is the west coast Motomirrors. They move so much farther then the aero style mirrors. I can blind side into a spot with out ever loosing the back of my trailer.

    Fine freightliner quality.
    20K on the new truck.
Flex pipe was 4" too short.
Suprised it held together this long.
It wasn't really loud, just the tone changed pulling a hill.
Hardly any thing coming out after going thru all the emission crap.
These new motors are reallllllly choked off.

I actually looked at and test drove an S63 AMG when I bought this M. Was also a mind blowing car but totally different, very refined fast where this M was more unrefined race car like feeling.

The DPF system is one heck of a muffler. Had the pipe come off once myself and like you said, a little change in the sound but barely noticeable.

Catalina, I’m leased to a company that runs a fleet of midroof Volvos. We haul frac sand to oil and gas wells, so we are rough on equipment. You’re right about the plastic side panels, but the truck can be ordered without them. We don’t buy new, so we take what we can find used. But once a truck starts having trouble with the plastic, we just take it all off. They build some makeshift steps (sorry, I don’t have any pics), replace the plastic bumper with a chrome one, and keep on truckin. Then the old trucks hold together just about as well as anything else.

You’re also right about the room they have. Volvo has it figured out when it comes to storage room, ergonomics, etc. And we all know the dang things will turn on a dime, which helps a lot in our line of work, and obviously would in yours too.

I drove them for several years as a company driver before I bought my W900L about 3 years ago. I leased on so I’m still with the same company, just driving my own truck. I can’t really explain why a long hood is better. It takes up more room and is a LOT harder to back in when room is limited, like most locations we are on. Lots of dry steering (cranking the wheel while truck is sitting still). It’s not the show off factor for me, cuz Lord knows my old ‘99 model ain’t no show truck.

For me, I think I’m just most comfortable in a narrow cab, long-hood cuz it’s what I started out in. I spent a lot of time in a W9 as well as a 359 in my early driving years (mid 90’s). As soon as I jumped in this KW I knew I was gonna buy it. Just felt right at home. Not to mention how much more room a guy has under the hood to access stuff when it’s time to work on it. Also, I feel like the longer wheelbase just goes down the road easier. Kinda like a chopper vs a sport bike. The sport bike loves the sharp turns and is very happy in town. The chopper loves to go straight and is right at home out on the highway.

Now, the company drivers still make fun of me on a tight location. Where they can get settled with one or two pull-ups, sometimes takes me three or four.

    I just don’t care. Lol.

What I’m saying is, underneath all the plastic on a Volvo is a rugged old truck. A frame, an engine, and a drivetrain. Just like all trucks. You just gotta remove some stuff to get to it. If I had my heart set on one, I wouldn’t let the plastic stop me from having it.

We deliver to the BMW performance center in SC .is that the class you're thinking of?? The instructor there said the class came with the M series. It looked like a lot of fun!
Edited to add: and you get to beat up their car while you're learning.

Yesterday was the first 800 mile day I’ve done in a while. Guess I’m gettin soft. Rollin through Texas it’s easy to put the miles behind ya. Set the cruise on 3 over and held the wheel all day.

Home now. Had a good nights sleep. Was lookin forward to walking the pups (my little incident really made me miss em) but it’s raining pretty good this morning. Maybe later.

Meantime, I’ll just put up with this:

The father of one of my friends shot this moose yesterday morning. Gun season for a moose tag started yesterday and goes till Nov 4th.
To get a moose license you have to apply for it and then gets put in a lottery system. If you're lucky to get drawn it's a once in a lifetime hunt.
