No need to bow out, you don't need to have an open deck to be part of this group. Might need to have a tendency towards a little dysfunctional family but otherwise everyone has something they can contribute to this thread/group

I have nothing but ratchet Binders on my trailer.

Doing these things will help with using ratchet Binders...

(1). Always keep the links in your chains straight.

(2). Keep the threads on your Binders clean and lubed, along with the detent in your forward and reverse dog.

After getting my binder in place I set the forward / reverse dog in neutral and "quick spin" the slack out..... saves time.

If you hang them up make sure you hook a chain in the bottom hook of the binder..... prevents the bottom from screwing out do to vibration.

This guy needs a wire brush and some oil....

Leave town for the day to go to Greeley and all helll breaks loose around here. My wife and her sister decided to use my old plow truck to give a friend a driving lesson on a stick shift. It dies in the middle of the road and instead of getting a chain off the headache rack on the truck that died and towing it into the yard with my Dodge they decided to push it with her Traverse. I'll post pics of the damage tomorrow. :(

    Can't have nothin' nice....

    Hypothetical situation

    Driver A:
Has never called in sick in 7 years
Offered to supply tools and perform all trailer maintenance
    Has passed 14 inspections
Is given all runs that need to be on time and leave out by 1-2 am
Delivers 600+ mile multi stop runs others can’t because they run out of time
Airs up tires, adjusts brakes, plugs tires, rewires lights, replaces mudflaps
Accommodates shipping dept in various instances, gets them out of binds due to their own oversights and shortcomings
Polishes his trucks wheels and tanks, pays for truck washes out of pocket
Typically bests the fleet avg by 1mpg or better

    Driver B:
Recently came back after 11 months off for knee surgery (drew workman’s comp and made pretty good money)
Has missed months in the past for various injuries being on light duty (over a year combined)
Has not once popped the hood on his/her truck to check anything
Brings back stops that he/she didn’t have time to deliver(really? Because Driver A can deliver it legally.)
Comes back and starts getting the best paying runs the day he/she returns.

Well, Driver A is pretty aggravated and not so sure about his future. He’s got a five stop 500 mile run tomorrow while driver B probably has a drop/hook. Driver A is tired and off to bed, hypothetically speaking, of course.

I miss having a tire chain rack...

Something tells me if I gotta throw iron I’m gonna spend 5-10 minutes removing everything else just to get to them in the bloody first place.

Part of me wants to use the bagged spares as the go-to tire chains. Throw them on the floor of the passenger seat. Pop them open when I need them... rather than having both tire chains hidden away...

Doing that will free up the box between the rails for some straps and portables and HOPEFULLY give me half of the saddle box for padding tarps.

As far as actual load chains... I personally like them on or in a headache rack. With standard flatbed and step freight I can easily toss them onto the deck and grab them when I’m ready to secure. I do think if I was @johndeere4020 doing it MULTIPLE times per day and not week, I’d rather have them mounted low on a tire chain rack or something similar. Grab and roll. But he’s yanking a RGN as well... having them low is preferable. But if you’re working on flatbed/shoulder level I rather already have them up high.

Some freight makes it impossible but working from the deck is preferably for me.

I cant say enough how much I like the binders with the folding handles...they work slick.

Laid over in MD today and decided to get a tattoo in my off time. 20181017_230631.jpg
