Just like running a milling machine or lathe.... punch in the numbers and let it go. To me that's not exactly a machinist, not trying to be a hard a$& but..... true operators don't need electronics to do finished grade. Maybe I'm to Oldskool for today's way of doing things but that's just me. I guess it's just easier??

Was curious to see if it was in one of these books.... one I'm looking for is out in the shop though. Automann products but..... I bought a new tank for my trailer couple months ago, about $129 I think. Was going to see what it cost through my local parts house.

Welding a new tank is quite different than doing a repair on a pressure vessel that has been in service. There may be some welders that would do a repair, I wouldn't. I could see doing an emergency repair for a single trip but, tanks just take too much stress to try repairing.

I did use some devcon and a small patch on an air tank on my Unimog, it was a quick fix to move it, I replaced the tank ultimately.

I have ALL manual machines, doing prototype work they are OK,. If I need more than a few of anything I job it out. While doing work on manual machines is no less accurate, sometime more accurate, it is not productive in manufacturing. There are some exceptions for second opps and, odd jobs but, in 98% of part production a CNC is way ahead of the game.

I do a lot of repair work, that is where good quality old school machines earn their keep.
