Their is a guide tool I believe it's made by Cat just for drilling out 3406 exhaust studs. It'a big flat steel guide you blot on to the other bolt holes on the block, and lets you drill the holes perfectly straight. My son carries one on his service truck,he's done this so many times. I even was able to adapt it to fit work on my N-14 to drill a broken one out, worked perect, drilled laser straight, came right out without damage.

Very nice,I think you did good,my son's personal pick up truck is a dually ext F350 2014 4wd Ford, and this pic is his 2014 F550 service truck he bought a few years back,we were installing the welder at our shop. I guess he's been lucky,he's had very good luck with the 6.0's. He dosen't chip them, leaves them stock, maintain to factory specs. The new service truck has over 200 k.
The second pic is his old 7.3 Powerstroke F550 he had forever. Was a great truck, didn't owe him a thing, just needed to upgrade to 4WD.

Wasn’t the EGR coolers the big issue with the 6.0’s?

I think he has deleted those or something. I don't know I'm a Cummins guy through and through. My pickup is my 93 Dodge W-350,Cummins,ext. cab,5 spd, 4wd dually 8 ft. bed. Bought it new,and it will be absolutely the last vehicle I would ever part with. So simple, not one computer.

Made it western and central Kansas and if my memory is correct there's a Christmas tree farm somewhere around Wichita that is the "Sleepy Hollow" haunted walk this time of year. Might not be around any more but I seem to remember taking my kids there 20 years ago

Oxbow,I see you mentioned Pocatella, one of my favorite old towns.Remember when Bucyrus Erie, had their big works there, was quite a few years ago.Lots of big heavy mining equipment came out of there, went all over North America. C+H had their terminal on old US 30,before the Interstate was completed through there, and I-86 wasn't built at all. All traffic had to wander through town on old 30. I think it was Foards? truck stop on the south side, and I believe there was a Skelly? on the north side up past Garrett Freightways. Garrett was another HUGE operation ate up by deregulation.

EGR coolers on late 04's on but the bigger problem was/is head gaskets.
