    It’s okay...

I’m eating cheesecake at a bar. Tough to hurt my feelings :)

Think I'd be tempted to take him on now. Hard to find good grafters.

Not that my opinion means a hill of beans, but if you know he's worth it and he's willing to tread water..

Know what they say about a bird in hand...

    (I know #### about running a business)

Seems to me though, at least from this echo chamber we call TTR, that all the “good hands” already have jobs, correct?

Is he a good hand? You’ll have to find out for yourself. Better yet, when you NEED help come spring will you be able to find another him?

If you think not. Hire him.

If you're sure a small loss now returns a bigger profit later, then yes I would hire him.

Good hands are very hard to find, especially when work is plentiful.

Sometimes you have to make a wager that could pay off in a big way and only hurt a little if it craps out.

Disclaimer : I am not risk averse and I have been divorced twice, so not afraid to fail.

I agree. A solid driver is a rarity. If @Ruthless says he’s on point, then I’d consider hiring him now to be a sound investment.

Is he working somewhere else right now?

If you know he’s a good gamble take him on and spend the time making sure he’s got it down pat.

When the bell rings he can come out fighting.

I’m here, getting my rear end kicked at work but it’s that time of year. Haven’t posted any pictures because..... I’m lazy. Moving K-Tecs and trucks along with small stuff the last couple days. Dropped the second scraper just before curfew and realized we smash a deutsch plug loading it. So that required some Jerry rigging but we got it. Those stupid things are done for a while I hope.

How long has he been at his current or previous job? Maybe that could be your barometer.
