You are correct, Eaton Automated Manuals are hot garbage. My first experience with one was when they still had a clutch pedal for stopping and going. Almost tweaked my right arm because the truck had one of those tall RAM Mounts for a tablet right where a shifter should be. Was taking it from a customer's yard to the shop to change the turbo. Got going and grabbed that stupid tablet mount and tried to grab gears......
"No, I don't know how that mount got bent like that....."
Only automated manual I've played with that I didn't completely hate is the DT12. May the lord have mercy on your soul if you lose air to it...
Were I to spec a modern truck and didn't just make the right choice and go for a 13 speed, I'd at least go for the Allsion TC10 since you can get them in PACCAR products now instead of just Interscraptional, as was the case when the TC10 made its debut. If I want an automatic, I want a real automatic. Plus I know all the care/feeding of Allison's thanks to having certificates saying I was officially trained in such (also have manuals and wiring schematics ho ho ho)Al.
