    Thank You!

At 17, I think he's got a talent for it, but of course I'm a little biased.

That this is even a discussion shows the stupidity, insanity, lack of thought, whatever you want to call it of the Government. The thought that somebody has to worry about getting home being that close without getting fined is ridiculous, especially on a holiday.

@PoleCrusher he might need to look into building a few custom shift knobs and stuff like that. Might be able to make a few bucks. He’s certainly got talent.

The rooftop-tall, mega-shifter crowd like @shogun really dig them custom shift knobs. :p

@Oxbow I think that only applies to extenuating circumstances like weather, accident, act of good etc.

@Tug Toy Might work at some companies, doesn't work here. We get paid really well for what we do and for me personally I'd rather have my job as opposed to getting home sooner. I'm single and I'm headed home to a house just as empty as the truck I sleep in. No significant other, no kids, no pets there waiting for me. 20 years ago when I had all of those I would have been rolling into the house already and skipped this first 10 let alone a second one. Life has changed and so have my priorities.

@ShooterK2 you no longer have to be empty (unladen) to use PC, you cannot use it to "further" a load but to go home, yes as long as it's not taking a load further on the route. Companies however can set their own policies that are more "strict" than that. Our company is pretty lenient. I don't know what the OTR fleet is allowed but super-load trucks are allowed 100 miles a day of PC. That comes in handy when the State Patrol parks you and your super-load 40 miles from civilization for 2-3 days and a guy really wants a shower.

If I make it to Ft Worth then yes I'll PC home, however if I end up even a mile short then using PC to finish the trip would be outside the scope of the law.

Last time (only time) I got hung out close to home I was under an OD going to Wichita but it didn't need to be there till Monday. I ran out of hours in McPherson, KS and lived in Newton. Had I used PC to go home, with the trailer and it's load attached, that would have moved it closer to its delivery point.

I saw a video where a Canadian fella took a hockey stick, sawed it down, and duct taped it to the factory shifter.

    May be an option?
