I fully understand complying with the letter of the law, and perhaps more importantly complying with company rules, especially with the type of clients and cargo that your company deals with. And I respect your adherence to them.
On the other hand, something in my nature would not allow me to stay an hour away from home on Thanksgiving! Of course with no family waiting for you there it is not that big of a deal I guess. I hhope you manage to enjoy the day whichever way it turns out!

That applies to someone who starts and stops at the same location everyday. Plus, the 11 hours would get him before the 14 hours would I bet.BigBob410, Oxbow, BigCam9670 and 16 others Thank this.

I recommend avoiding Ohio. But you know what few years back I forgot to file for Maine trl plate for one trailer. So I went and got a Ohio plate. Later just ended up getting all Ohio trailer plates. I appears that they leave you alone when you have it. Every time I have been stopped in Ohio I had a out of state tag. Idk maybe I just think this. Some of us haul heavy, just hide it under a tarp.BigBob410, Oxbow, OLDSKOOLERnWV and 16 others Thank this. -
Honestly, if I were headed towards home with a wife, kids and Turkey dinner waiting on me on Thanksgiving, well you know that electronic box may just have a malfunction but I don't. No wife and the kids are doing Thanksgiving with her in a town 400 miles from where I live.
There was a time in my life when I drove one of those knuckledragger trucks with the seat on the floor, the shifter rubbing the headliner dragging a reefer making weekly turns from Wisconsin to Southern California. Always had a fresh 70 hours ready in the jockey box, bottle of "stay awake" in the seat pocket and thought I owned the world. Those days are over, I make way above industry average and enjoy my 10 in the bunk reading and watching TV.

I’ve used that once in great while, and like someone else said you’re allowed to do it once a week if you begin and end at the same place every day.
Our employee handbook specifies that it’s allowed in the event of issues that weren’t apparent at the time of dispatch, but that doesn’t prevent the office idiots from trying to say you have extra hours and send you 2 hours away with 11 total already logged. That’s when fireworks often begin.stwik, BigBob410, Crude Truckin' and 16 others Thank this. -
