They can get their permits at 15 1/2 here, she’s 12 1/2 so it’s coming. Yes losing a nephew would add to that. I remember you mentioning that, sorry for your loss.

I and the truck are out of Winnipeg, MB, but you'll be seeing lots of me if you spend any time on the US-2 between Rugby and Williston throughout the work week.

I'm heading back and forth between Canada to bring down lime.

 

My baby girl is 8 years PAST her permit, I'm still not ready.....

 

I live right along I-40. One icy day we were in the kitchen and my wife thought she heard something out back. I pulled my boots on and opened the back gate. There was a car upside down right on the other side of the fence. I told her to stay inside the gate cuz I didn’t know what I was gonna find. Turns out it was an elderly couple from Illinois. Banged up but both able to talk to me. I cut seat belts and got them both out. Told my wife to call 911 and get a couple of blankets. The woman was bleeding from somewhere on her head but both were able to stand.

They had gotten sideways on the bridge near exit 38 and slid off, hit the concrete culvert which flipped them onto the top, and slid right up to the fence.

All this took several minutes and went on in full view of I-40 traffic. No trees or anything out here. Not one person stopped or even called it in (besides us).



It amazes me how people will just ignore things because “it’s not my problem .”

More n more people think #### near everthing is someone else’s responsibility.

Good on you brother for doing what’s right BECAUSE it’s the right thing to do.

If they do stop, it would be to film the people upside down in the car so they can have something to post about on facebook.

You know, @ShooterK2 , women sit and talk and compare notes and talk bad about men and whatnot. And when she hears the stories of the other women, your wife probably reflects on her marriage. See, it's not just one single act. It's a pattern. "This is what he does. He does this all the time. When SHTF, this is what he will do." She already knows. If she didn't know what you would do, she would worry.

 

If the rest of the world had to describe what American Rock is, they would point to either CCR or ZZTop.

I can identify with the feelings of hearing your child has been in an accident.... got this picture and a message from my ex wife, "our daughter was in a wreck"! This was about 5 years ago.

 

Thankfully mine hasn't had anything of that magnitude and hopefully she never will.

For the past 24 years of her life I've been on the road or recently, not on the road but living 1800 miles away for at least 21 of those. Since leaving home she's never lived more than a couple miles from her mother yet anytime something serious, bad, good or otherwise, happens I'm the one who gets the first call. I don't know why, both boys call mom but the baby girl calls me with that little tiny voice "daddy" and the crying associated with it then inside I'm an instant wreck while I dig deep to pull that strength that a baby girl is expecting and needing when she dials the daddy 911 number. There's been a couple times I've broke down and become the sobbing wreck the instant that phone call disconnects.

I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world, no matter how angry, frustrated, upset, scared when a grown man's baby girl says "daddy" laced with the tears, fear, anxiety in that voice that does something that I can't explain. When it's one of the boys, the flow of emotions are totally different, at least for me.
