@catalinaflyer don't feel like the Lone Ranger. You weren't the only one in an e-log bind Thanksgiving eve LOL. It all started the day before when I was restless enough to find a "quickie" run to exploit I mean do my part to fulfill the pre-holiday capacity needs. So I knock the brokers head off quoting a 1-way rate from ATL down to Cairo GA (that's pronounced "kay-roe" for you yankees) and he said yes. Long story short, the great grocery company that starts with a K and ends in Roger decided to steal two hours of the one hour I had to spare.

Thing is once you get a certain age, you realize there's more value in arriving home later and in better shape, than grinding it out to gain a couple hours just to be worn out, look at each other for a few minutes then go to bed anyway. Coming back I figured I could land at the NB rest area in Macon easy. Then I decided I wanted restaurant service and ran the numbers on reaching the J in Jackson (on purpose, I swear) for Denny's. 10 minutes to the positive so lets go. Somehow I time traveled and made the turn into the J with 14 left on the clock. Took the pup for a long walk then went inside to overeat to the tune of $17+tip, then hit the bunk like a rock. Thanksgiving morning I was up before the 0400 alarm, put on the coffee and took the pup for her pre-trip poop (logged "on-duty" of course), then went across the road to the TA to turn off the low fuel light before completing the trip. I was pulling into my driveway at home at 0730, fresh off a good nights sleep, and hadn't missed a thing.

I went on e-logs a few months before the mandate and this is the first time in over a year I had one of those "hour from home" situations arise. Srsly, the only drama there is what you make for yourself. I'm not only the user, but also the responsible safety person in charge. I could have (weakly) justified PC the whole 250 miles, but I'm not dumb enough to think that wouldn't look right upon inspection. So I did the right thing and it didn't hurt me. Well except for the artery clogging goodness it caused when I stopped short.

I'll also mention a fun fact for those unclear about what the "adverse conditions" exception does for you. Interesting because it does apply to paper too. However, much like the beloved 8/2 split, you have to be smart enough to be able to use it.

AV only extends your 11 drive time by 2 hours. It does not do anything to your 14 or mandatory 30 min naps. Useful for hard chargers that run out their clock every day. Not so much for drivers like me that dislike working that hard, and a 9 hour driving day is a big day. Doing what I do, the above scenario playing out is more the usual - unplanned sitting around somewhere and burning down the 14. So AV doesn't help that.

In fact, since I started using e-logs, I have used AV two times to save an on-time arrival somewhere. Both times my confidence with explaining it to an officer was high. Funny thing is, both times there was an actual adverse condition that fit the definition and I remembered to stop and turn the exception on to extend my drive limit.

Conneticut is spending $2 million on a study about truck only tolls, and the governor elect plans to spend $10 million on a study on the environmental impact on EZ pass and tolls. My question is when did Conneticut pass a law requiring someone be a certified genius to be a politician?

I know that feeling. My girls are 30 and 25 both happily married and doing well. When they need something they call Dad. One phone call from either of them can bring me to my knees quickly.

$10m study on tolls was approved by current governor.

While I’m against tolls on principal- #### em, I’m raising rates beyond the toll cost, same as I did for Rhode Island with their truck only tolls.
Max cost for Rhode Island is $40 a day. So by the time their toll gantries are all fully functioning, I’ll be at $75 more for any load into Rhode Island, whether I hit all tolls or even just one.
    #### em. Cost of doing business isn’t just the costs added up. Every cost gets marked up.

Pretty much the reason I have accepted zero NYC loads. I ain't afraid of big city driving, since I live in one. Nobody wants to pay for the extended privilege of using pay per use roads and bridges.

My sentiments exactly. Glad to see that y'all seem to have had a happy holiday for the most part. Y'all have a great day today. And don't buy too much ! I'm sure the wives will take care of that.

Good on you Shooter and your wife. How many people would would have just ignored the noise in the first place and then how long would those people had to wait for someone to stop without you investigating it and helping them out because your wife brought it to your attention?

    Good people find good people!

Since I'm probably finished OTR I think I might buy this, add a few things to it and just drive it back and forth to work and use it as my daily driver, lol.

Welp.. sometimes even a blind squirrel gets a nut.

I picked up $150 detention for the two hour delay on Tuesday. While I was working on that, all the tvs in the house acted up suddenly. The online comcast support page indicated no known outages so I started a chat session. During the chat session, not only did they acknowledge a problem, but it was fixed before we got done.

Looks like my day will be all downhill from this moment.
