I had no idea that Rudolph was suicidal. And she’s (transgendered on Lifetime, pecker and teets ) leading the Slay.

Warning, long post ahead:
Made the Hook in Minot for the night, about to hit the hay. Got some news today that I've got mixed feelings about, told this morning by the shop that my truck is getting to the point where it might need a rebuild (already had two in its life) and is getting to that point of being unreliable as a highway truck (they don't want to risk another expensive breakdown).
My first reaction was a bit dismayed, but with the water pump going a few weeks ago, having unsolvable issues with the engine fan not regulating coolant temp while idling (unless the bunk AC is on) and her getting really thirsty for oil as of late (I'm starting to add a little every morning, it's almost like she's a kitty that wants to be a Detroit), I'm also starting to get nervous about her reliability.
She's been a great truck up until this point, almost a year straight with one major and a couple minor motor problems (oil pressure sensors and a jake thing), but I don't think the shop manager ever saw her lasting this long. Apparently she's never been "reliable" and after a certain point, something started going wrong every 250,000 km or so. I'm at 1.57 million and I remember when I first started using this truck for bulk a while back, she was about 1.35 million.
It's almost time...
Talked to dispatch today about it, probably will move into the other bulk truck (that I used a couple weeks ago), but logistics might be looking into new equipment for the bulk side of things (they are already looking at options for this Williston run to run higher payload). While I'd love a long hood kitty, I don't think that's going to happen, and have started to become a little less strict in my reservations about what I drive.
Honestly, so long as it's a conventional with a manual transmission and not a gutless turd with an auto-shift, I feel like I should have no problems driving it. It's not my name on the door, so the only input I really get is how much pride I take in keeping it clean. Chances are high it's probably going to be a Peterbilt 567 SFFA. Owner just brought in three a couple months ago and is pretty happy with them.
They have higher ground clearance than a 388/389 and are a good couple thousand pounds lighter, even with the X15. With a pneumatic, they'll probably scale in somewhere between 30,500 and 31,500 I think, and apparently, they've got a new style APU as well, that runs a coolant heater in the winter, keeping idle time down near zero.
I'm intrigued to say the least. They've started to grow on me a bit. A good mix of old school and new school, just like me.Al. Roper, Crusader66, Feedman and 20 others Thank this. -
