Before nixing an auto completely see if you can somehow get a test drive in a 500hp paccar with their 12 speed. My trucks at 455 and I have zero problem running off and leaving other trucks from a stoplight, even loaded i still pull away.

After nothing but headaches from trucks with Eatons crap ultra shift I vowed to never run another auto truck but the numbers were too good with this company to not give it a shot. Needless to say I love the auto 12 in this truck.

Picture for sake of adding something to look at. 0921titan2_t1000.png

I drove a 485 (?) MX-13 with the auto back in June when my truck was in for safety. That was one week too long. As soon as I got back to the yard, I told the driver services manager, never again. I came in hot to every stop and had no idea how fast I was going. I felt largely out of control when driving it. I was riding the brakes a lot too down hills.

I'm not opposed to the Paccar (a free-breathing 510 will pull B-trains like a boss) but I'll hang up the keys before I get into an autoshift again. It's not for me.

Fortunately the owner found they cost more to maintain than they save on fuel and is moving everything back to manuals.

So when they throw money at ya, to carry 10k in packages 450 miles a day.

Ya I can't turn it down. No snotty brokers, snow drifts or lane alert.

Since I have finished the 05'(sort of) and am not wanting to elog it.

Gonna put a couple c-10, c-20 and a c-60 back to running order. Hopefully if I don't drop dead from overworking.

The 12 or the 10? This 12 acts worlds better than the 10 I drove before. I also "manualy" shift mine on the up shifts and let it down shift when coming to a stop. That said when i do buy my own truck itll be a stick for the simpler maintenance factor.

The 12, on 3.70s I think. I had the DS manager tell me the same thing with "manual mode". I just said, why not just give me a stick then?

I could shift that Paccar at 137,500 lbs smoother than the auto. And I had that auto rev up to 2200 rpm to drop three gears, fully loaded.

More slope than I'd like on the hood, but look more "Pete" than the 579.

I’d rock one. That’s fo sure.

I’m still holding out for a 680 midroof.
