I'm not going to just come out and say his story isn't true because I've heard it before with different aircraft. Now the jet he is talking about, the SR-71, is fully capable of that speed and more, although it's top speed is classified as far as I know.
I've spent a lot of time up front in the jump seat on military aircraft listening to the radios looking out the windows, just killing time because those 12, 15 and 18 hr flights are killers, you run out of things to do. Again, not saying it doesn't happen but I've never heard aircraft call control center for a ground speed just to hear it over the radio, however, Airspeeds are called out frequently for various reasons.
I'm sure a little embellishment was added for comedic affect.Al. Roper, Slowpoke KW, SAR and 16 others Thank this. -

Cant keep a plan for #### it seems. Now they have decided I cant make Dumas by time they gotta have the product. The buyer went quiet when I asked him what part of this mother Fawker I'm drivin looks like a little truck cause that's the dam part I'm takin off. He says already made a deal with other guy.
Not 10 minutes later calls back and says man I gotta cover that Port Arthur to Joplin. My reply wasnt civil I did add pay me to dead head after it and it's good as delivered. He didn't like it I know but dont take that to mean he didn't do itwhoopNride, Al. Roper, beastr123 and 21 others Thank this. -
Dude, come on...who you thinking you're talkin to. We dont like asssin stuff up, we gotta look the part out here lol. If I wanted asssed up equipment, I'd go lease onto Swift flatbed division. Some of those 53 foot steps they pull look horrible.
Now, as for the axle placement, I'm gonna leave axle 1 where it is, move axle 2 forward some, install axle 3 at the very back. Put a lift kit on 1 and 3 to keep it versatile as I can for a customer we have.
I know it applies to over 48', but I thought Cuntneticut was 1 that would give you a hard time on the 48.6 and longer?whoopNride, Al. Roper, stwik and 17 others Thank this. -
