Bossman is trying to bamboozle me. He's pushing hard for me to move "inside".
"Give the inside work a month, if you don't like it, you can do what you want"
"I'M ON TO YOU"
"You'd make a good warehouse manager"
Next time he brings it up, I'll say I'll do it if I can always have a flask of rum with me.
Where is everyone #5

So, when is this winter slowdown supposed to start?

You’re gonna need a very strong alcoholic beverage to coerce me into pushing paperwork at a desk all day... but that’s just my two cents.
A management role with some hands on crapola sprinkled in wouldn’t be too bad... terminal yard dog lead or something...Slowpoke KW, cke, whoopNride and 15 others Thank this. -
Yep. I never loaded grain in B-train hoppers before, so had no idea how to position the load on the lead. Put way too much to the front, but was 62,300 gross. Apparently we get 500kg allowance on axle overages in Canada, but they really crack down hard on over gross.
Unlike @wore out 's neck of the woods, we don't really have many alternate routes that you can run a truck on at full legal weights, and if the MOT sees a truck on them (and during harvest they are always on patrol on the alternate routes), you can bet you're getting weighed.
With a 90% restriction on an already 90% class road (spring restrictions on B-class highway in MB), your ticket is going to be massive with B-trains. That's 26,000 lbs over gross.
I've heard certain MOT officers turn a blind eye to farm trucks during harvest running gravel roads or highways that aren't well-traveled, but you better hope you don't get caught on RTAC routes over. We already have a hard enough time keeping the roads together at 62,500kg.PoleCrusher, Slowpoke KW, cke and 19 others Thank this. -

That position would mean doing counter sales, keeping on top of shipping/receiving, inventory, as well as keeping an eye on truck driver. On paper, seems like it might be a good deal.
I've explained to him that I LIKE driving the truck. I LIKE getting to leave and spending my day with some good old fashioned Metal destroying my hearing more than it's already been wrecked. Sure, sometimes (and by sometimes I mean most of the time) I work physically harder than anyone else there. Every once in awhile I want to erase a contractor from the gene pool when they take out their frustrations on me But....
The idea of being trapped inside all of the time for the most part gives me a case of the heebie jeebies. I ended my last job while driving a desk and I learned how much I detest it.PoleCrusher, Slowpoke KW, cke and 15 others Thank this. -

So my truck has an apu. I asked the boss about it..."I dunno Ive never messed with it". They own a friggin heavy truck repair shop here in San Antonio, but dont care enough to fix a piece of equipment that can save them a bunch of money on fuel. I already told him we're gonna get on it pretty soon and get it goin if we can.
PoleCrusher, Slowpoke KW, cke and 10 others Thank this.
