We run that stuff a lot. Kinda what I'm hoping for, just depends on where the first drop is.

@ShooterK2 . Dropped valve, not good, metal, to a non-motor head what does all that mean? Rebuild?

Come around a curve and see cops behind a bobtail Mack on the southbound side. Wonder what's going on then come thru the next curve and see his drop deck sitting in the slow lane. Glad I was ahead of it, a backup is forming.

Worst case: damaged piston, scored cyl wall, engine comes out for repair.

Best case: the good lord put his hand in that cyl and kept that valve from bouncing around too much and maybe the existing piston is okay with no cyl wall damage. Smooth out any nicks in the piston to keep hot spots from forming, install new valve spring assembly and roll.

The valve is just floating with no spring attached to hold it up off the piston. The sound I heard was the piston hitting the valve. So there’s gonna be damage there, and the metal pieces have to go somewhere. Just gotta get the head off and see how bad it is. Best case scenario is I can just replace that one liner and piston, along with a new head. Worst case it’ll need another inframe rebuild. Either way it’s gotta come apart.

Man I sure hope it’s that easy, but I ain’t gonna hold my breath.

Like I said, I got it shut down almost immediately, so maybe it won’t be too bad.
