Almost all of the contractors I deal with are repeat customers, some of whom I deal with at least once a week. First name basis with these guys.
75% of them are pretty decent fellows. There are a few bell-ends in the bunch, as is the case most anywhere. I suppose dealing with contractors may be more difficult for you insomuch as to them you're just some dumb OTR driver they'll never see again.
I have the luxury of developing a rapport with these dudes, even to the point where if I'm justified in telling them to go eat a massive bag of male reproductive organs, my employer will back me up. -
That’s probably the biggest issue...
My huge gripe with them is many believe I can do what a straight truck can do. Or a day cab with a short 48’ tandem.... not gonna happen bucko.
Fortunately the Otis/Kone Guys I’ve dealt with are all really cool. It’s the general contractor that comes out with his chest huffing and puffing looking for the driver of the “big unnecessary in the way truck” that I normally butt heads with.
Me thinks I should pickup some traffic cones if I’m gonna keep up these job site deliveries..... maybe I’ll ask a Kone head the next time I run into one. Cmon y’all that’s a zing right there.cke, 1951 ford, Shock Therapy and 15 others Thank this. -
If you ever deliver an OTIS load in San Francisco and the foreman is a big guy named Mike with a goatee, that’s my brother in law.cke, 1951 ford, Crusader66 and 14 others Thank this.

Man what a freaking Monday... 5 hrs to unload this morning, for no good reason. Finaly make it down here to Bevier, MO to get this load transferred onto my wagon. Of course it's taking forever cause the forklift is acting up.
In due course said forklift dies, so they call this guy...
Oh yeah, did I mention it's at a ####### Loves? Of all the places for this to be...really?
OK, ##### session over, gotta get to tarping... -

That's the scary part! I've tried to change alot of my ways since I found out I had type 2. My blood pressure and cholesterol are great. I've heard rumor that none of us are getting out alive.
we do what we can and enjoy it while we can... tomorrow is certainly not guaranteed
