I am probably the wrong guy to ask as I that is about my cost to run that distance. I would start at a complete round trip rate - so that you can get home for Christmas by traveling empty.
Don’t be afraid to ask for your rate - especially at this time of year when things have to move....
To quote George from Seinfeld “ you have hand” (leverage) as most guys have or are going home - so capacity is near zero

Last year I broke down for the whole week at MHC Nashville... y’all remember? I remember...
went home this year and have ZERO regrets...
I’ll let @catalinaflyer and @kylefitzy play in the holiday traffic for the big bucks.cke, johndeere4020, shogun and 17 others Thank this. -
I'm not @Rontonio and will spend the remainder of my driving career trying to be half the driver he is but I do a fair bit of OD work albeit as a company driver.
So, yes the permits may not cost all that much but the bigger things, especially this exact time of year just as Ron has just said, pricing it to get you home for Christmas is a big one. Here's the other one that matters to me, company driver paid by the mile, owner operator or whatever your case may be. How much are you and that truck worth per day not per mile? Being OD and being the shortest daylight day of the year your limited on how hard you can work regardless of how hard you want to work. Yes the will be states you can run after dark but your shipper/customer doesn't need to know that. As a driver, truck owner you need to set an amount your going to make each day and stick to your guns when asking for that rate.
I may be miles off on how this works but that's how I look at it. Just like right now, we're lucky to get 350 miles a day on this run with daylight restrictions, curfews etc. Going the other way empty, 700 miles with no where near the stress or headache.cke, RedForeman, Zeviander and 15 others Thank this. -
Those are kind words - I get nervous just reading about your 20’ wides
You have hit it right on the head. It is not about the per mile rate but about the daily income after taking out Pilots permits etc.
I like to think about it as respecting your time skill and equipment. Your Johnson isn’t bigger at the end of the trip if you did 1000 miles per day. When you get old like me all you have left is “hey baby, wanna see how big my wallet is?”cke, BigCam9670, Zeviander and 19 others Thank this. -
I don't do OD/OS but I would have to guess your daily gross income needs to be 2k or higher to cover all expenses?cke, johndeere4020, shogun and 10 others Thank this. -
Good morning and happy shortest day of the year (y’all can tell I’m home, can’t ya?).
cke, johndeere4020, shogun and 21 others Thank this. -
I'd just embarrass myselfcke, johndeere4020, Zeviander and 13 others Thank this.

Then you are exactly who they are looking for... it is an audition for personalities not problem solvers - so on second thought maybe you would be doomed

Some mega carrier gains a worldwide reputation. Some KoolAid drinker jumps up to defend his company every time.
A KoolAid drinking owner op? There’s such a creature? Are you certain that he’s an owner op? That’s like a guy on the receiving end of beef injections telling you that he identifies himself as straight.
“But Six, that doesn’t make sense.”
I know!cke, johndeere4020, shogun and 15 others Thank this. -
Leased purchase owner op. Or bent over and don't realize it yet!cke, johndeere4020, shogun and 13 others Thank this.
