I realize that would put you over height. But that would be the correct way. Im sorry about that. Another thing and Ill get murdered in here for saying this. If I load something that light, no were near gross. I load out of covenience. Not the correct place on trailer for axle weights. Its way to far back. The nose would be flatter and have more weight on drives maybe measure less. You have to becarefull carrying more weight on trailer than drives. The tail migh wag the dog even at light weight. Difference Between pulling a single trailer (you are hauling or carrying weight). Multi axles, and multi trailers you pull more weight. I shall keep thinking about this.

 

I always loop the rail. And it's exactly what I was going to suggest as well.

Also, Id have had that load set up farther forward to try and get in front of the arch.

 

when i looked back in my ledger ( I think this is the one i took TX to Tulare,CA) it paid 4503.. for 1500 miles.

 

Ok try if your straps are long enough go to the frame web (belly). You wont have the same angle on hook and less stress. Know I dont like doing this or anyway you have. But this is my advise to help with the situation that we can not make many other changes.

 

Also thinking you should of loaded on your drives up at the nose of trailer.. Im thinking thats what i did. less wind was what i was thinking when i did it. @Lysdexis

i can bet if ya change your strap hooks you will buy your self some time and money to get to the drop and get this off your ride.

 

So you strap are like 5300lbs. Go to 4 strap. To frame web. But I would try and x cross the front. To stop forward movement. They will not count towards your wll.

From now on dont hook to the deck use rub rails. it will save you the $10-$20 for strap replacement.

also i dont know if you do this but dont leave your straps rolled up on the winches. I dont know who started this but it destroys your straps(road grime and weather) as well as leave you to some one shopping and take them off your truck.

 

Yeah lesson learned. Load it forward if theres a next time. I've moved the straps to the rail and given them a twist. The middle feet are the highest point, depending on which straps I tighten first determines which feet are off. I'm hoping it rides like it is now for another 240 miles then it's off my trailer.

As for the rate this came off a ship, 1518 miles 2500 to the truck. It pays alot less than I feel like it should but it was the only thing coming from California on a Friday they said.
