I'm not sure that you can be trained to do a job well without understanding why. Understanding why you do things is part of good training.

I do understand the difference of being taught by a person with experience versus a driver mill, but I do not categorize that as good training.

I was fortunate to learn from a man that owned a construction company in 1980. I learned the WHY well before I truly understood it. Subsequent experiences allowed me to understand the why, and the thought went through my mind often: "That's what he meant when he said...….".

I am not arguing your point, just saying that nobody is born with the skills and experience. We all must learn somehow, and at least the fellow was asking. Which way he goes with the answers is another thing.

I get what you are saying. And I agree with some of it. My original point was, the op ASKED. Too many guys are afraid to ask for fear of looking stupid. Instead they go ahead and do. I would rather look stupid than be stupid. Once it was explained to him the op( if I remember, I’m not going to read it again) decided not to go with a 6x2. I understand your point, I just can’t really fault the guy for asking.

I consider this type of chemical warfare to be a reasonable response to the sensory assault perpetrated on a man-card holder.

Well here is the sad story. It hasn't moved since late 90's that I know of. Its not forsale either. It is the owners first new truck. Some time late 90's I think. He had it full restored, engine, trans, paint. Nut and bolt open check book. Big Cam. It had not been on the road for years before that. When it was done he brought it home and this is were it sets today. 30 tag in window. Black on hood is fading and peeling, and never work a day after restore. Guy is alive driving another truck. Just sits there in front of his house outside in the stones. I knew his step daughter back in high school and my dad knew him. But that's all I know. Kinda weird. Going to hell after a pile of money spent.
