y’all know where to find some short chain online? I’ve tried UScargo control and the shortest they sell is 16’...

Ever find a place that would sell me a 4-5’ piece with hooks?

Yep. Exactly. I can't prove that it was planned that way but I sure wouldn't bet against it.
You can only "improve" ( make it bigger ) the pie so much and after that, every time they crow about getting a bigger slice, they cut it out of somebody else's piece.

It's amazing to me that I said these things to my parents since I was a kid and they only started believing me in the last couple of years.

They were The Greatest Generation and did a great job at most things but Mankind doesn't have a very good grasp on what effect their actions of today have on other folks tomorrow.
That's just a human trait.

Most rigging supply stores will sell you what you want. Or do like everyone else and cut them down yourself

 

You have some 20' in your rack, a chop saw, tractor supply for hooks and viola, short chains. That's how I get mine.

I need the ones I have currently. I already have the hooks and pins just need the chain...

Might just grab a chain from a TA or Petro and grab a saw at some point... or see if I can’t do it on home time... figured they’d sell some chain in short 5’ strips with hooks but I guess it’s a custom order ordeal
