I finally found the list of exemptions and what I'd haul minus fertilizer is exempt

When Mom died and we had to let Dads authority go I filed for a DOT number interstate exempt commodities for hire. Livestock, feed, and hay. My truck runs a single state commercial plate with an IFTA license and sticker. You only need apportioned plates if you have an MC

All grains are exempt basically. Then stuff like cotton seed meal, soybean meal, nex fos etc that are not an exempt commodity are when used for livestock or poultry feed. There is a list you need to down load rice is exempt after it's been milled to white rice.

It doesn't matter farm to elevator, or elevator to barge. Most of it only becomes non exempt when its milled and considered a finished product. Another crazy deal, cattle are exempt unless used for a rodeo then you gotta have an MC.

I don’t know #### about what is and what isn’t exempt. I know it’s got some funky guidelines. It’s not my wheelhouse so I don’t keep up with it.

I know some states ie: tx require a txdot number to haul in state. Sc does not, but they may require a usdot # again, not sure it’s not what I do. I don’t think there is really any benefit to not having motor carrier authority. New opportunities show up all the time and it would suck if you couldn’t capitalize on them.

I see you ask for two bottles of Blueberry Syrup like a respectable human being should.

    Enjoy the family time! :)

There is some crazy crap about grain and UCR fees to. I cant remember if its final destination is out state or out of the country but if your hauling in state from say elevator to barge you gotta pay the UCR. I always pay it anyway cause my I run out of state but that's a big deal for our local DOT
