I was at Elmendorf from 86-89, worked across the runway at the 616th CAMS, over where the 130's are.

Eventually ended up back at Dover from 91-02. I had gotten off of active duty but remained in the Reserves and worked as a civilian there. Our work schedule, 4 on 3 off, allowed me to drive a truck for a local small company up to NYC and all around the northeast and back down to D.C. and Baltimore on my days off from the base, it was a great part time driving job.

I was at Elmendorf from the winter of 93 to 96. Had big plans of homesteading up their. I was going to live there the rest of my life, before I got there. I arrived there in Oct 93, by Feb 94 I had decided as soon as I could get out of there the better. I think that winter was Anchorages 3 rd record snowfall in history. Something like 121” accumulation that winter. Before moving there the worst winters I had ever seen were where I live now. Thought I could handle tough winters. Not.

Dad got his toes frost bit in Germany back in the 60's. Said WV really ain't that bad after being over there.
