I had 18913A when I bought this truck, and went to an 18918B after I had my engine built up.
When my transmission blew, I was running Southwest Texas. In the big hole cruising along. BOOOOOOOOOOM!,!!! The big hole gear grenaded. I upshifted the stick, got unloaded, and limped the truck to Lubbock. Went to the Freightliner south of town Saturday morning and talked to the service writer.
I want you to order a transmission for me...write this down :RTLO22918B. Call me when it gets here.
Monday, I receive a phone call...
“Sir, we have your transmission out and inspected, I can tell you what is wrong...”
Are you not the same service writer that I spoke to Saturday?
“Yes.”
Did I say anything about inspecting this transmission?
“No. But I thought that you might want to think about rebuilding.”
You are wasting my time. What did I tell you to do?
“You told me to order you a transmission.”
Did you order the transmission?
“Well...no. See core charges, expensive transmission yadda yadda bla bla yadda...”
If you don’t want my money, let me know. I will have a wrecker take my truck to another shop.
“Noooooo! That won’t be necessary! I will order it now!”
Call me when it gets here.
2 days later, I was back rolling. I know they wanted to build that transmission so they can ride the clock. Time is more important, especially when freight is jumping. Gotta grab as much as you can because the money isn’t always going to be there. -
Understand.....
A piece of wire with a smooth cut on the end can be your freind, if the wire goes through so will the oil. Glad your getting back on the road my freind.Feedman, blairandgretchen, Hurricane69 and 23 others Thank this. -
