One type of service panders to the low hanging fruit who just want something done as cheaply as possible. Quality doesn't matter. "Profit" comes from volume, with little concern for repeat customers.
Another type of service is about an excellent experience. Quality at a price that makes both ends feel like they're having a good time without either being ripped off. When things are said and done, both parties will agree that having another go (and another, and another) is worth the time put into the exercise.

Thanks for that laugh. Y'all ever been to a high end Ruth's Chris Steakhouse ? I haven't, although I wouldn't mind it. I heard its expensive.
I also heard that the Founder made a statement about the preparation and presentation of the meal. " We're selling the Sizzle, not the Steak. " -
@TripleSix
I remember the day I read this story the first time.
It literally changed my outlook on life.... mostly the business side of things but can be applied to almost anything.
I think I posted that you should run for president?blairandgretchen, 1951 ford, Feedman and 17 others Thank this. -
I fully believe you. Still cant think of a time a newer emissions motor of any brand blew my doors off. Lonely single stack 12.7 freightliner. What has the world come too? Well it aint a MaxF##ce

I ain’t with partial rates. If someone is ok paying ftl rates that I can fill the deck that’s fine.
I used to throw small stuff on for a customer when I had something going that way. Til he started wanting ltl pricing. Anymore sometimes I go to the same neighborhood 2 days in a row with very little deck space used bc it’s from different customers n if it don’t pay full rate round trip- I ain’t doing it.
Weight/deck space id gaf- you’re paying for my time and expertise.
I lost a customer a few years back. COD for very small loads (straight truck/car trailer sized) that paid ok. Better bc I threw other stuff alongside theirs.
One day they called wanting “a box the size of a hatbox” taken from their regular pickup to their regular drop off n how much it would cost? $1500 same as always. Guy was real butthurt about it. “It only weighs blah blah”
At the end of the day- it’s pretty ####### stupid to work for cheap because someone only needs a hatbox shipped.
Customers pay for expertise. If you only need a hatbox shipped, pay a guy in the office to put it on his passenger seat: don’t ##### that a professional should do it cheaper.blairandgretchen, 1951 ford, Feedman and 19 others Thank this. -
Didn’t touch 10th gear to Needles this morning...
That only does so much in my experience. You need the weight and the grades. -
That's enormously entertaining stuff. Top shelf right there.blairandgretchen, 1951 ford, Feedman and 11 others Thank this.
