I’m 4th owner, his son was driving the L model when the engine locked up.

    @OLDSKOOLERnWV Just kidding. Every wanna see a guy go bonkers just had to rev up a cold engine in front of the oldman, and god forbid it was his, or his hot rod Cummins. You couldn't rebox that crazy fast enough.

    When it’s cold like this, I never move my truck until after it quits governor hunting lol.

    You are correct, reving when cold can cause damage. I remember Dad talking about a guy who constantly brought his truck in for the same problem during the winter. He had a 3406, as it turns out he would fire his truck up, then hold it half throttle till it started warming up.

    Some don’t realize the oil pump can suck a crater out in the pool of oil, then it’s sucking air momentarily before the oil surrounds the suction tube again. Every day of that adds to problems.
