It is actually the original Toll House from the 1800’s. They collected toll to cross the river, it was dismantled and moved here in 1951?? On I-64 west when you cross the river just past exit 18 is where it stood. Right close to where the Mud and Guyan River meet. Route 193 is exit 18. It only sets about 3/8 mile from its original spot.
This old tollhouse on Main Street in Barboursville, West Virginia, took payments along the land portion of the old, 1800s-vintage James River & Kanawha canal-road turnpike through town. It was refurbished by the area Daughters of the American Revolution chapter in 1950 -
The ole Condor I think they called them. Never quite took off. I heard they were supposed to have more room but ended up being to heavy. And not to mention how ugly they are! Cassens is the only ones I've ever seen!
